Film Producer | Creative Visionary

Attending the Cannes Film Festival was a pivotal moment in my journey as a film producer. Coming from an academic and professional background in architecture, I have always been passionate about creativity and storytelling. Cannes, alongside the support of Yes She Cannes, helped me bridge the gap between my architectural expertise and my growing career in filmmaking, allowing me to channel my skills in ways I never imagined.

Motivation to Attend Cannes

As a producer, my goal has always been to tell stories that resonate deeply and make a difference. Cannes felt like the ideal platform to explore world cinema and connect with global creators. My current feature project, Daal, a women-centric film now in post-production, needed a stronger creative foundation—and Cannes gave me just that.

My architectural background has equipped me with skills like problem-solving, project management, and an eye for detail. However, attending Cannes helped me realise how to translate these skills into my role as a producer. It gave me a broader perspective on storytelling, leadership, and creative collaboration, all of which are critical in film production.

An Unforgettable Memory

One of my most unforgettable moments was engaging in deep conversations with talented filmmakers from across the globe about Daal. Sharing its story and receiving valuable insights made me realize how universally relatable its theme is. It was both humbling and empowering to see my work being appreciated by seasoned professionals at such a prestigious platform.

The Role of Yes She Cannes

Yes She Cannes played a transformative role in my journey. Their unwavering support helped me navigate the challenges of Cannes and maximise the opportunities it offered. Whether it was advice on networking, practical tips, or simply being a sounding board, they ensured I felt empowered every step of the way.

Beyond their direct support, the community they created was priceless. Talking with the amazing women in the She Squad gave me the confidence to tackle challenges head-on. We shared experiences, lifted each other up, and found ways to overcome obstacles together. It reminded me that even in a competitive industry, collaboration and camaraderie can lead to incredible growth.

Being Part of the She Squad

The She Squad was a lifeline during my Cannes experience. Whenever I faced moments of self-doubt or uncertainty, the women in the squad were there to guide and support me. These conversations not only helped me find my way but also gave me the confidence to trust my instincts as a producer.

There’s something powerful about being surrounded by women who share your dreams and challenges—it creates a space of mutual encouragement that truly drives you forward.

Professional and Emotional Impact

Attending Cannes profoundly influenced both my professional and personal growth. Professionally, I returned with an enriched perspective and invaluable connections. I’ve already started collaborating with some of the incredible individuals I met at the festival, which is bringing new energy to Daal.

Emotionally, Cannes helped me embrace my identity as a producer. It showed me that the ups and downs are part of the process, and with the right support system, they can become stepping stones. The experience also cemented my belief that my architectural background is not a limitation but a strength—one that I can use to shape compelling stories with precision and creativity.

Cannes, with the incredible support of Yes She Cannes, has been one of the most defining moments in my life as a producer. It gave me the tools, confidence, and community to take my storytelling to the next level. Thank you, Yes She Cannes, for inspiring women like me to dream boldly and create fearlessly!
