It’s About Bloody Time: Women Are Seen- at FrightFest!
This Thursday, Yes She Cannes is bringing together filmmakers, creatives, and genre fans in London for It’s About Bloody Time: Women Are Seen - an afternoon celebrating the women creating, leading and reshaping horror, fantasy, sci-fi and beyond.
Taking place during FrightFest at the Phoenix Artist Club, the event brings the women-in-genre conversations we’ve been building internationally into one room - part networking event, part celebration and part platform for exciting female-led projects.
Because quite frankly... it’s about bloody time women are seen.
A space for women in genre
Women have always been an essential part of horror, fantasy and science fiction - in front of the camera, behind it and throughout every area of the industry.
Yet there is still a need for more spaces where female filmmakers can meet one another, share their work, build collaborations and be visible to audiences and industry.
That is exactly what we wanted to create with this event.
Hosted by Yes She Cannes, alongside Etheria Film Festival and Silicon Gothic, It’s About Bloody Time brings together communities already championing distinctive voices within genre filmmaking.
Guests can come along to meet filmmakers and creatives, discover new projects and celebrate the women helping shape what genre looks like next.
The About Bloody Time Project Showcase
At the heart of the event is our Project Showcase, created to give female-led genre projects a chance to get in front of a live FrightFest audience.
We received submissions spanning horror, sci-fi, dark comedy, supernatural stories and some wonderfully strange corners of genre filmmaking.
Six projects were selected for the showcase:
The Tampon Slasher - Danielle Spoto
A brilliantly bold and unapologetic genre project taking something routinely misunderstood and turning it into horror.
Frankslist - Christine Cleozzi
An absurdist genre story where an apparently ordinary interview rapidly becomes something much stranger.
She Comes For You - Janet-Rose Nguyen / Maya Korn
A horror story exploring grief, motherhood and the frightening consequences of what happens when something refuses to let go.
Blood Moon - Nadia Lamin
A female-led werewolf story bringing together horror, folklore and themes of identity, power and transformation.
Stranding - Anastasia Sidorova
A psychological sci-fi horror project following a therapist aboard a spaceship where isolation, technology and the human mind collide.
After Birth - Amy + Lucy Clough
A visceral body-horror exploration of motherhood, identity and the physical and emotional aftermath of giving birth.
Each team will screen a teaser of their project, before we move onto the bloody pitch- they will have just 60 bloody seconds on stage to hook the audience in to their project before they are officially... OUT OF BLOODY TIME.
It is intentionally fast, fun and a little chaotic - but most importantly, it gives audiences the chance to discover work and filmmakers they may be hearing much more about in the future.

We are incredibly proud to be bringing the event together with organisations already doing important work across the genre community.
Etheria Film Festival is one of the world’s longest-running festivals dedicated to genre films directed by women, championing bold female voices across horror, sci-fi, fantasy and thriller since 2014.
Silicon Gothic is a female-led production company creating bold genre work across film and immersive storytelling, while actively supporting emerging talent and creative collaboration.
And Yes She Cannes exists to celebrate, connect and create opportunities for women in film - from Cannes to London and beyond.
Together, we wanted to create something that feels less like another industry panel and more like a genuine meeting and celebration opportunity for the genre community.

Entry is FREE and the event is open to all genders.
Capacity is limited and admission will be on a first-come, first-served basis, so please arrive early.
Please also note that the event space is downstairs and does not have step-free access.
