In 2024 I attended the Cannes Film Festival for the fourth time, I was motivated to attend as I was seeking interest in a feature film that I had in post-production.  I was also there to pitch a colleague’s project as part of the Largo AI producers pitch event and moderate for the Diversity focused AfroCannes event.

My most unforgettable moments were screening my first short film there and stepping out of my comfort zone to moderate for AfroCannes.

Pitching at the live event and moderating at AfroCannes highlighted for me how film is such a universal language given the wide range of nationalities I encountered.  Being a Brit we are just one piece of the ecosystem of universal storytelling, I think sometimes we can forget that and not realise there is a rich world of global talent to discover.

Attending the festival for me has been a widely enriching experience in that I can firmly say I have an array of international colleagues that I am now collaborating with, so I will most definitely keep attending!

Through Yes She Cannes I felt that I was able to be better prepared for my experience through all the wonderful nuggets of information shared by Faith and other members of the She Squad.  I felt tremendously supported when I suddenly was in need of accommodation for my trip, and I am really grateful for that.

Being part of the She Squad felt like being part of a sisterhood of creatives that eagerly shared resources, opportunities and advice.  It’s also been a joy to watch Yes She Cannes blossom since my first attendance in 2018.
